German National Committee for International Youth Work (DNK)

The German National Committee for International Youth Work (DNK) represents youth organisations in Germany in the multilateral field. It sounds complicated, but it's simple: the DNK builds bridges between Germany and abroad. This is where the import/export of youth work takes place - and the DNK is the nerve centre.

Co-operation counts in order to be able to speak with a strong voice. The DNK is a working group of the German Federal Youth Council (DBJR), the German Sports Youth (dsj) and the Political Youth Council (RPJ). The DNK has been in existence for over 60 years and since then has aimed to champion the interests of young people worldwide. An important task of the DNK is to reach agreements on the joint international work of German youth organisations.

However, the DNK is not a coordinating body for bilateral youth relations. These are carried out by our three pillars (DBJR, dsj and RPJ) and their member organisations on their own responsibility. The DNK is managed by the German Federal Youth Council. Decisions are made by the DNK Executive Board to which all three pillars belong. It meets approximately 4-5 times a year. Elected every two years team of DNK spokespersons coordinates the work between the board meetings. It is supported by the six-member external representation team.
