Youth Summit Y7 and Y20
The Y7 Summit (youth7 or Jugend7) is one of the official participation formats of the G7 Summit. It gives young people a platform to contribute their perspectives to the negotiations of the G7 countries. Each G7 country sends four young people - usually linked to the national youth organisation structures - to this annual participation format, who then negotiate the main topics of the respective G7 year and adopt their own youth resolution with recommendations to the G7 countries on the respective policy area. This is forwarded to the G7 states. Japan will host Y7 in April 2023.
Parallel to the Y7 summit at the G7, the Y20 summit pursues the same goal as the G20 format: to involve young people in the decision-making processes of their governments within the framework of the G20 format. The process is the same as for the Y7 Summit, and here too each G20 country sends up to four people each year. India will host Y20 in August 2023.
Youth delegates to the UN General Assembly
As part of a tour of Germany, two youth delegates gather the opinions of young people and then campaign for the interests of young people together with youth delegates from other countries during the UN General Assembly in New York. The one-year programme is supported by the DNK and the German United Nations Association (DGVN).
