Youth representatives from the DNK are taking part in the Y7 Summit in Italy

This year’s Y7 Summit took place in Rome, Italy, from 20 to 24 May 2024. At the Y7 Summit, youth representatives meet annually in the run-up to the G7 Summit to discuss the same topics as those set for the summit of heads of state and government, with the aim of presenting demands from the perspective of young people. At the Y7 Summit in Rome, discussions took place across four thematic tracks:
- Inclusion and Equal Opportunities
- New Skills, Entrepreneurship and the Future of Work
- Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change
- Innovation and Digital Transformation
In the final communiqué, ‘ ’, youth representatives call on the G7 heads of state and government, among other things, to take concrete measures to protect the environment and biodiversity, create sustainable value chains, and safeguard democracy and inclusion in the realm of digital innovation.
In addition to the four tracks, negotiations also took place on the topic of “Peace and Security in Global Conflict”, the results of which were included at the beginning of the communiqué.
Four young people from Germany took part, delegated by the German National Committee for International Youth Work (DNK). Lisa Mastiaux led the track on inclusion and equal opportunities, Maurice Bessling focused on the track on new skills, entrepreneurship and the future of work, Isabel Rutkowski was responsible for the track on environmental sustainability and climate change, and Moritz Böbel dealt with the track on innovation and digital transformation.
