The task of the DNK is to coordinate the representation of youth interests at international level in the multilateral field. It pools the interests of the young people involved in the DNK member organisations and supports the exchange of information between its member organisations on issues relating to European and UN youth policy. The DNK is strongly committed to European youth policy in a spirit of partnership. Together with the German Association for the United Nations (DGVN), the GSC is the organiser of the UN Youth Delegates project.
The DNK informs its member organisations about current developments in the field of European and international youth policy as well as the youth policy of the United Nations. In this way, the DNK ensures that its member organisations can participate in discussions on the implementation of European and international youth policy in Germany.
They are independently active in the areas of national youth policy and bilateral youth exchange.

The German National Committee for International Youth Work (DNK) is formed by the German Federal Youth Council (DBJR), the Ring Politischer Jugend (RPJ) and the German Sports Youth (dsj). Since 1963, the DNK has represented German youth organisations internationally in the multilateral field, e.g. vis-à-vis the European Union, the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
At the DNK, international youth policy is made by young people for young people. With their open and participatory structures, youth organisations reach a large number of young people. The DNK is an active member of the European Youth Forum (YFJ). The DNK works together with partner youth organisations in the BICC cooperation (Benelux Islands Central Cooperation, formerly BBC+) in order to pursue common interests in the European Youth Forum even more effectively.
